Privacy & cookies

What we collect

You can read Whitehall Minute without registering, and we do not sell personal data. We do not run user accounts, comment sections or newsletters, so we do not hold readers’ names, email addresses or passwords. If you write to us, we use your email address only to answer you.

Hosting and security

The site is delivered through Cloudflare’s network. As with any website, technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested is processed in order to deliver pages and to protect the site against abuse.

Measurement

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand which stories are read. It does not use cookies, does not track readers across sites and gives us aggregate figures only — for example, how many times a page was viewed — not information about individuals.

Fonts

Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests them, Google receives your IP address, as it would for any web request. Google Fonts does not set cookies.

Advertising

Whitehall Minute is to be funded by advertising supplied through Google AdSense. Advertising is not yet switched on: this site does not currently set any advertising cookies. Once it is switched on, the following will apply.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings or at aboutads.info, and learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Consent

Once advertising is switched on, visitors in the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent message before any advertising cookie is set, and will be able to change their choice at any time.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you the right to ask what personal data is held about you and to have it corrected or erased. Because we do not keep reader accounts, in most cases we hold none. To make a request, write to the address below.

Changes

We update this page whenever the way the site handles data changes; the current version is always here.
