UK passport fees: £102 online, £239.50 for 1-day premium

For an adult passport, the two urgent services add £90 and £137.50 to the online price, and GOV.UK says anyone who has already applied should not pay for them.

Renewing or replacing a standard adult passport online costs £102, according to GOV.UK. The two urgent services cost £192 and £239.50 for an adult.

The paper form costs £115.50, the same page says. It also tells applicants to “check how long it will take to get a passport before you apply” and not to book travel until they hold a valid one, because a new passport “will not have the same number as your old one”.

What each service costs

GOV.UK’s fees page lists the standard prices for the 34-page passport and for the 54-page frequent traveller passport. Children pay less, and the table lists the passport as free for anyone born on or before 2 September 1929.

A Home Office notice from 18 March 2026 said the new fees would start on 8 April 2026, with the online adult fee rising from £94.50 to £102, which is £7.50 more.

Urgent passports: what the extra money buys

GOV.UK’s urgent passport page describes two services, both booked online. The 1 day premium service costs £239.50 and can only be used to renew an adult passport. The earliest appointment is 2 days after applying, and the new passport is ready to collect from the passport office 4 hours after the appointment.

The 1 week fast track costs £192 for an adult. It also covers changes of personal details, lost, stolen or damaged passports and child passports, for which it costs £156.50. The earliest appointment is the next day, and a courier delivers the passport 1 week after the appointment.

The differences are our own sums from the GOV.UK prices. Premium costs £47.50 more than fast track. For an application made on 19 October 2026, the earliest premium appointment would be on 21 October and the earliest fast track appointment on 20 October. If the fast track appointment were on 20 October, courier delivery would fall on 27 October by the same count.

The frequent traveller version adds the same £14 at each level: £116 online, £206 on fast track and £253.50 on premium, against £102, £192 and £239.50.

If you have already applied

GOV.UK says anyone who has applied and not yet received a passport should not pay for an urgent one. “You will not get your passport sooner,” the page says, and each additional application brings a £34.50 admin fee.

The urgent service is not open to first-time adult applicants or to people outside the UK. For travel for medical treatment, on government business, or because a friend or family member is seriously ill or has died, GOV.UK says to call the Passport Adviceline instead.

The Home Office notice says that in 2025, where no further information was required, 99.7% of standard applications from the UK were processed within 3 weeks. It also advises customers to apply in good time before travelling.
