State Pension age is rising to 67: when you reach it
A further rise from 67 to 68 is scheduled between 2044 and 2046 under current law, the timetable says.

The State Pension age is rising from 66 to 67 between 2026 and 2028, according to GOV.UK’s State Pension age timetable.
The timetable says the Pensions Act 2014 brought the increase forward by 8 years, and that the rise covers men and women alike. Anyone born between 6 March 1961 and 5 April 1977 reaches 67. For those born between 6 April 1960 and 5 March 1961, the age is 66 plus a set number of months, a figure that climbs from one to 11 across the group.

People born between 6 October 1954 and 5 April 1960 reach State Pension age on their 66th birthday, the timetable shows. For anyone born after 5 April 1969 but before 6 April 1977, it notes that the age was already 67 under the Pensions Act 2007.
What comes after 67
Under the Pensions Act 2007, the State Pension age is set to increase from 67 to 68 between 2044 and 2046, the timetable says, and its table for that move is “based on the current law”. The timetable adds that the Pensions Act 2014 provides for regular reviews of the State Pension age, that the 67-to-68 timetable could change as a result, and that any change would have to go through Parliament.
GOV.UK’s separate checking service carries its own warning. The checker page says the age “is regularly reviewed, so the results of this tool may change in the future”. The service also gives a person’s Pension Credit qualifying age and the date they become eligible for free bus travel. It tells readers they can keep working after State Pension age, as a forced retirement age of 65 no longer exists. What the full new State Pension pays is in our State Pension rates guide.
